The Gita, Bible, Koran…what’s common?

When I hear my friends talk of their religions, I can’t help but wonder the similarities in what the religions teach us about who we are and what is the purpose of life. I have seen so much of similarities in what we have between all the world religions.

Take for example what The Gita says about the number of Gods … One Eternal Being … and all others are incarnations of this one Supreme Omnipresent Omnipotent Being.

What was that again?… Koran, Bible and Jewish texts talk of existence of only one God… sounds familiar.

Well, there are many more commonalities between these texts than what we have heard.

The World and Religion

Its been a long time I was thinking about the various religions in this world. Most of the religions talk of how great their religion is and how bad other religions are. There are however few religions in the world which I know of which do not view other religions are bad or degraded.

The main such religion is Hinduism. Then there is Buddhism. I consider Buddhism to be an offshoot of Hinduism mainly because in Hinduism, Gautama Buddha is considered as one of the 10 main Avatars of Lord Vishnu. Something tells me that there are more such religions in the world and I am trying to search for more.

On the other hand, the two other largest religions in the World are not so accommodative to other religions.

I tried to understand why or why not. What I feel is that the main reason why these religions are not so accommodative is mainly due to fact that they have not fully understood the texts written in their Holy Books. I feel they have misunderstood he texts and it continues to be degraded further as we build upon those misunderstood texts. This can be confirmed by the deeds of early Muslim and Christian rulers.

We need to find out how to no get the religion back to how the founders had envisioned and this is going to be a very difficult task.

In the coming months, I will try to publish the various myths related to the various religions and how they shaped history and religion as many know it today.

Hari Om and Happy New Year 2009

Wish you all a very Happy New Year. Hope this new year will bring lots of positive vibrations all around the globe. May the New Year bring light of Peace and Happiness all around us.

We have been facing lots of negative vibrations all around us. It may be in the form of financial meltdown or in the form of terrorism. But as we move into the New Year, I wish all these negative vibrations will be eliminated to pave the path for positive vibrations.

This can be easily achieved by each one of us looking deep into what our religion preaches. Be it Hindu, Muslim, Christian or Jew, all religions talk of the same thing…..help each other and stay away from hurting each other….stop thinking negative of the other.

At this time of financial meltdown across the globe, we need to help all around us to weather this passing phase. This is one way the Gods will be judging you. The very act of helping a person in need without looking into his religion will make the Gods happy.

At this time of terrorism in the name of religion, we need to keep in mind that those who act as a terrorist in the name of religion are actually misguided youths and do not reflect the true nature of the religion they follow. They thrive by spreading misinformation and poisoning the minds of those who are on the edge. One way to control the spread of this hatred is to spread the universal word of love for one another which is preached by all religions.

May the New Year shine the wealth of true knowledge among those who feel one religion is better than the other.

Let us welcome the New Year with more love and understanding for each other.

Hari Om.

Welcome

Welcome to this blog. Here I will be providing my views on the religions and religious issues. I follow the Hindu religion and I love and respect it. But I will not limit myself on Hinduism but I will give my views on all religions and all religious issues.....well....nearly all religions.

I hope readers of this blog will enjoy the varied religious based posts. I welcome every reader's comments and will make every effort to answer each and every question same day. Feel free to comment whether you do not agree or agree to my views. You can also chat with me using the "Chat with me" Meebo box on the left side on this page.

As for me, I love to meditate and have a healthy discussion on religions than any other issue I possibly can.

Welcome once again and enjoy reading.
